Poco M7 Pro 5G Review
Design and Build

The Poco M7 Pro 5G sports a practical and minimalistic design, constructed from plastic with a metal frame. The Lavender Frost variant we reviewed features a two-tone rear panel with a mix of solid and marble-like finishes. The transparent camera module, which looks like glass but is actually plastic, houses two prominent camera cutouts and an LED flash, along with the POCO branding. The color is particularly appealing to younger users, though a black variant is available for those who prefer a more classic look.
The front of the device boasts a 6.67-inch display with narrow bezels. The metal frame includes a power button and volume controls on the right edge, both of which are tactile and responsive. The lower edge houses the SIM tray, USB Type-C port, microphone, and speaker grille, while the upper edge features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a secondary speaker, an IR Blaster, and a secondary microphone.
Using the phone one-handed can be a bit awkward, especially for those accustomed to smaller devices. However, the flat edges and matte finish on the rear panel provide a secure grip. The rear panel is mostly fingerprint-resistant, though the camera module tends to attract smudges. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and the included slim cover offers additional protection. The phone strikes a balance in weight, feeling neither too heavy nor too light.
Display
The Poco M7 Pro 5G features a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2100 nits. It offers three color profiles: Vivid, Standard, and Saturated. The display is vibrant, though the colors can appear unnatural. The dynamic range is acceptable but not exceptional. We primarily used the Standard mode but switched to Vivid mode occasionally. Increasing the brightness improved visibility in sunlight, while reducing it in darker conditions made the screen appear almost black.
The 120Hz refresh rate provides smooth scrolling, but most apps run at 60Hz. Even when set to a higher refresh rate for gaming, titles like Call of Duty reverted to 60Hz during gameplay. The display supports HDR, which we tested on YouTube, and the high brightness level ensured usability in outdoor settings.
Speakers and Haptics

The Poco M7 Pro 5G has a dual-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. The primary speaker is at the bottom, and the secondary speaker is at the top. While the audio is powerful, the clarity could be better. At moderate volumes, the sound quality is satisfactory, but higher volumes result in a muddled mix of vocals and instruments. The device includes a headphone jack and Bluetooth connectivity for wired or wireless audio. The haptics are fast and accurate.
Software

The Poco M7 Pro 5G runs on HyperOS, based on Android 14, and comes with a promise of two years of Android updates and three years of security patches. The user interface is similar to that of the Redmi Note 14 Pro. The device comes pre-installed with various bloatware, including games, Glance advertisements on the lock screen, and apps like LinkedIn and Snapchat.
Performance
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset, the Poco M7 Pro 5G offers commendable performance for its price. During a full day of use, including system navigation, photography, benchmark testing, and streaming, we experienced no performance lags. While not designed for intensive gaming, it handles casual gaming well. Playing Call of Duty resulted in occasional frame rate drops, with gameplay reaching around 30-35 fps. Light gaming is manageable on this device.
Cameras

The Poco M7 Pro 5G features a dual-camera setup on the rear, including a 50MP Sony LYT 600 sensor with OIS and a wide f/1.5 aperture, and a 2MP macro sensor. The 20MP front-facing camera is suitable for selfies. The main sensor captures stunning images with vivid colors and good detail, though the dynamic range could be better. Both indoor and outdoor shots are impressive.
In low-light conditions, the main sensor performs well, and the Night Mode enhances brightness at the cost of some detail. The 2MP depth camera is effective for portrait shots, creating a pleasing blur effect with natural color tones. However, detail is limited, and noise is noticeable when zooming in. Edge detection is generally acceptable but suffers in low-light environments.
Battery Life and Charging
The Poco M7 Pro 5G is equipped with a 5100mAh battery that supports 45W wired fast charging. The included 45W adapter charges the battery from 0 to 100% in about an hour. During a week of use, the battery lasted a full day with moderate activities such as browsing, watching videos, making calls, gaming, and taking photos.
